Our commitment
People often reach this site during an emergency, sometimes in difficult circumstances. It should work for everyone, and we have built it with that in mind.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML structure with a logical heading order on every page
- Full keyboard navigation with visible focus indicators
- A skip link to main content on every page
- Text and interface contrast targeting WCAG 2.1 AA
- Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images
- Labelled form fields and accessible accordion and slider controls
- Support for the reduced-motion system preference
- Responsive layouts that work at 200% zoom and on small screens
- Click-to-call phone links throughout, so contacting us takes one action
Ongoing work
Accessibility is not a one-time task and we do not claim this site is perfect. We keep testing and improving it.
